KCL Law promotes new partner and SA for FY21
KCL Law has promoted a new principal lawyer and senior associate, effective 1 July 2020.

The firm has elevated Damien Simonetti to principal lawyer and Arnie Vijayakumar to senior associate.
The firm said these truly deserved promotions recognise their talent, knowledge and experience, and their outstanding dedication and commitment to their clients, contribution to the firm and, more broadly, the profession.
Mr Simonetti specialises in construction and infrastructure law and works with builders and developers to deliver tenders and contracts, project consulting and litigious advice.
Mr Simonetti joined KCL Law in 2014 and was appointed to senior associate in 2018.
“Damien’s appointment is a significant milestone and one that is truly deserved. Damien has comprehensive legal, technical and industry knowledge and, since joining the firm, has built and maintained strong client relationships,” principal lawyer and head of construction and infrastructure Darren Cain commented.
Mr Simonetti’s practice includes advising, consulting and representing builders and developers in medium to large commercial, infrastructure and domestic projects utilising a wide range of Australian and international standard contracts.
He also advises on disputes and conducts litigation and arbitration in all jurisdictions across Australia.
A key member of KCL Law’s litigation and dispute resolution practice, Mr Vijayakumar primarily focuses on general commercial, corporations and insolvency litigation.
He also has experience in building and construction litigation, financial services litigation, real property litigation, defamation and international commercial arbitration.
According to the firm, Mr Vijayakumar has advised a wide variety of clients including individuals, SMEs, publicly listed companies, accountants and insolvency practitioners.
He also regularly appears in the Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court, Supreme Court of Victoria, County Court of Victoria, Magistrates Court of Victoria, Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
Principal lawyer and head of litigation and dispute resolution David Weinberger said that Mr Vijayakumar has become an integral member of their Litigation and Dispute Resolution team and this promotion was truly deserved.
“Arnie has proven to be a talented commercial litigation lawyer, as he understands the commercial realities of litigation and works with clients to provide solutions that derive the most value to them,” he said.
