Speaking to Lawyers Weekly as part of the CPD focus fortnight, Paula Gilmour, founder of CPD for Me, shared what she intends to work on going forward.

“Goals [are to] hire two more staff in the Old Bar studio and train another eight youth in our year 10-12 work experience program in 2020,” Ms Gilmour said.

“[In addition], [we want to] expand our pipeline to extend our work experience program for regional youth.”

Identifying opportunities ahead, Ms Gilmour noted she intends to be: “tailoring law firm CPD libraries, working with experts in our speakers program and creating more bespoke content for universities, law firms and industry experts”.

In terms of combating challenges, Ms Gilmour said she will continue her work with lawyers “to realise that CPD for Me, is a viable online option to complete CPD units this year” and make it known “we are a regional provider and would encourage clients to buy from the bush as a viable alternative to offshore and city suppliers”.

Since 2018, Ms Gilmour has been a strong supporter of the local community, holding the position of president of Old Bar Manning Point Business and Community Association.

She is currently looking for firms to support 2020 #SAKT (Support Australian Kids Too), a year 10-12 Digital Media Work Experience pilot creating social media and digital media services, which has been operating since 2017.

Ms Gilmour also spoke to Lawyers Weekly about the value of online learning and about the need for legal professionals to “remember the old adage – you get what you pay for” when it comes to selecting CPD providers.

The CPD deadline is on 31 March 2020.
