BELL GULLY acted for Transpower on the awarding of a new contract to Fujitsu New Zealand to provide IT infrastructure services for the next three years, extendable up to five years.
Stephen Revill, a Bell Gully partner, said the transaction was a significant milestone in outsourcing agreements in New Zealand.
“Over recent years we have seen an increasing shift in the drivers behind outsourcing agreements. Rather than a focus on the performance of software and hardware in the case of IT for example, the move is towards addressing how desired levels of service can be achieved,” he said.
“The Transpower agreement is an excellent example of the current thinking and a progressive approach to managing complex IT environments in a challenging and critical business such as the country’s electricity supply.”
The law firm said the new contract included clearly defined and measurable outcomes including service levels expected across multiple areas, ongoing knowledge-sharing requirements and measures to address the critical need for robust business continuity.
As well as Revill, Bell Gully solicitor Ben Warden also worked on the agreement for Transpower.
