JWS adds 4 to partnership
Johnson Winter & Slattery has elevated four of its staff to the partnership, effective 1 July.
The firm has promoted Christopher Beames, Sophia Bobeff, George Croft and Andrew Wilton to partners.
Ms Bobeff is based in JWS’ corporate and private equity practice. She specialises in M&A transactions, joint ventures and general corporate and commercial matters.
Mr Croft, also from the firm’s dispute resolution team and the energy and resources team, specialises in the mining, oil and gas and electricity sectors. His experience spans construction-related disputes within these sectors, as well as advising electricity generators and retailers in operational matters and supply-side issues with fuel producers, a statement from JWS said.
Meanwhile, Mr Wilton, based in the firm’s energy and resources, and projects and construction team, advises on the development of construction and infrastructure projects across Australia, principally in the energy and resources and commercial property sectors, as well as a range of commercial transactions covering commodity sale and purchase agreements, land acquisitions and disposals, infrastructure access arrangements, commercial leasing and joint venture arrangements, JWS said.
JWS has also elevated another member of staff to a new special counsel position.
Julian Wan, from the firm’s tax team, specialises in corporate and international taxation, having advised listed, unlisted and multinational clients on the taxation implications of mergers/acquisitions, inbound and outbound investments.
“These promotions are an indicator of the firm’s confidence in these individuals as well as the growth opportunities and prospects ahead of us,” said JWS managing partner Peter Slattery.
“Johnson Winter & Slattery has been going from strength to strength, advising on many of Australia’s most complex and high-profile transactions and disputes. Our success is attributed to the quality of our people: their commitment, legal excellence and commercial acumen.
“We are delighted to be recognising the talent of these five lawyers today and look forward to them participating at a senior level in the ongoing development of our business.”
