Bill King has been hired by the plaintiff firm to lead its medical negligence team. He joins from Shine Lawyers where he also led the medical law team.

Mr King brings to his new role a background in acting in some of the state’s largest and most complex medical law cases, according to a statement from Slater & Gordon.

The firm noted that he holds the current record for the largest compensation judgement in Queensland, securing for Nancy Mules $6.7 million for misdiagnosed cryptococcal meningitis.

“Slater and Gordon have spent time reviewing our business in Queensland,” Queensland general manager Karen Murphy said.

“We are now growing our practice in specialist areas such as Medical Law as more people contact us for advice. We are aligning our growth mission with leading lawyers such as Bill to deliver on our client service proposition. We welcome Bill into our firm.”

Commenting on his new role, Mr King said:

“I look forward to leading the medical law team in Queensland for Slaters. The amount of cases the team is conducting is the largest portfolio I have seen in my 25 years in the law”.

“This is an indication that clients respect the performance of the team and are attracted to the size and strength of the Slaters brand in Queensland.”
