Resources companies acquire engineering brand’s businesses

Two resources companies have been advised on their acquisition of a diversified engineering and infrastructure company’s resources, power and water businesses.

Firm: Allens (AvidSys Pty Ltd and Avid Resources); Unknown (RCR Tomlinson Group)

Deal: Allens has advised AvidSys Pty Ltd and Avid Resources (WA) Pty Ltd on the acquisition of RCR Tomlinson Group’s (in administration) resources, power and water businesses.

Value: Undisclosed

Area: M&A

Key players: The Allens team was led by partner Jodi Reinmuth, who was supported by senior associate Melanie Rifici and lawyer Elle Farris.

Deal significance: Speaking about the deal, Ms Reinmuth said: “We were delighted to advise AvidSys on the acquisition of these businesses. As the company’s most significant Australian investment to date, the transaction constitutes a key aspect of its global strategy of providing a vertically integrated service across all its business units.”

“AvidSys is a leader in mining investment and operations management and aims to continue to deliver on RCR Tomlinson’s longstanding customer base. The acquisition also secures the jobs of around 150 RCR Tomlinson employees,” she added.
