The firm has welcomed David Couper to the role, in what marks his first position since returning to Australia from Hong Kong, a statement from Allens said.

Mr Couper joins Allens from Kirkland & Ellis LLP where he was a partner. Prior to this, he worked at Linklaters, an Allens’ global alliance partner.

Throughout his career, Mr Couper has advised on various financing transactions across the Asia-Pacific region. Some of his clients include global private equity sponsors, arrangers and hedge funds, including Advent International, Bain Capital, Baring Private Equity, Blackstone, Hillhouse Capital and KKR.

“David adds additional depth to our leveraged finance practice and also supports the continued growth of our private equity practice,” said Allens practice group leader Tom Highnam.

“David is a specialist in leveraged finance, but also brings with him a wealth of experience in advising private equity sponsors on all of their debt needs. We’re delighted to welcome him on board.”
