HFW launches consulting arm with Aus clients targeted
Global law firm HFW has launched a standalone consulting business in an effort to broaden its client offering.
Named HFW Consulting, the new business will offer advice to clients on a wide variety of issues, including people, technology, risk and reputation, separate from its legal expertise.
HFW director of learning and development Chris O’Callaghan will lead the new service as director, which will initially be targeting clients across Australia, Asia and the Middle East.
In his capacity as director, Mr O’Callaghan said the offshoot was launched, “in response to increasing demand from clients to help them develop their businesses, enhance their people and protect them against risk.”
He said HFW “thought it was time to formalise our offering”, as the firm has been providing “ad hoc consulting services for more than a year.”
“We will always help clients wherever and in whatever way they require,” Mr O’Callaghan continued, but said the firm recognised “that the consulting market in Europe and North America is already very mature and competitive.”
“We see greater opportunity in the Middle East, Asia and Australia, where we think adding consulting services to our strong legal practices in those markets gives us a unique proposition.”
HFW global senior partner Richard Crump said the firm prides itself on its “deep industry expertise across aerospace, commodities, construction, energy, insurance and shipping.”
Commenting on the branch out into consulting, Mr Crump said, “clients know that we understand their business and their sector, and trust us to provide commercial as well as legal advice.”
“Broadening those relationships to include consulting services is a natural next step, and means that we are even better able to provide clients with the best and most commercially effective advice possible.”
