Firms: Norton Rose Fulbright (NRMA); Nick Stretch Legal (ATPM Group)

Deal: NRMA has been advised on its acquisition of the ATPM Group.

Value: Confidential – enterprise value above $50 million.

Area: M&A

Key players: The Norton Rose Fulbright team was led Sydney partner Ben Smits, with assistance from Nuncio D’Angelo, Peter Trevaskis, Sally Woodward, Jacques Jacobs and Felicity Rourke, and associate Vianna Shing.

Deal significance: The ATPM Group is an Australian-headquartered specialist tourist park manager.

The company has been involved in the management and ownership of holiday parks around Australia for over 20 years, and currently successfully manages 34 local government and council caravan parks in Australia, including NRMA’s portfolio of four award-winning holiday parks at the Gold Coast, Darlington Beach, Merimbula and Umina, and its three franchise parks at Murramarang, Myall Shores and Sydney Lakeside on the Northern Beaches.

The acquisition of ATPM Group by NRMA will enable NRMA to have one of Australia’s largest portfolios of parks under ownership and management.

Upon completion, the transaction will enable NRMA to improve its management services alongside an increased national footprint of owned parks. It will also significantly enhance NRMA’s investment portfolio in Australian tourism and travel, which includes Travelodge Hotels and Thrifty Car Rental.

“We are delighted to assist NRMA on this transformative acquisition in this growing market,” said Norton Rose Fulbright Sydney partner Ben Smits.

“This new scale will allow NRMA to deliver an even richer and sustainable holiday experience for guests across its portfolio.”
