Homewares manufacturer advised on sale
An Australian homewares manufacturer has been advised on its sale to a South African company.
Firms: HWL Ebsworth (The Decor Corporation); Thomson Geer (Marlin Home)
Value: Undisclosed
Area: M&A
Key players: The HWL Ebsworth team advising Decor was led by Melbourne corporate partner Sam Dwyer (pictured) and special counsel Paul Lewis. Partners Peter Kay (banking), David Marriott (property), Teresa Torcasio (commercial) and Ari Schachna (tax) assisted on the deal.
Deal significance: Decor is an Australian private company based in Melbourne. In its nearly 60 years of operation, it has manufactured a range of household goods, including kitchen containers, lunchboxes and drink bottles.
Decor has been sold to South African company Marlin Home, a division of investment holding company Coast2Coast Capital.
“We enjoyed being able to assist our clients in selling this iconic brand. This significant transaction is a great result for both parties and will see an ongoing business relationship between the two,” lead partner Sam Dwyer said.
Approximately 80 per cent of Decor’s products are designed and manufactured in Australia. This will continue after the sale, HWL Ebsworth said in a statement.
The deal follows Marlin Home’s acquisition of Australian homewares wholesaler Albi in 2016.
