LAW firm Allens Arthur Robinson has advised leading independent global asset management firm Henderson Group plc on the acquisition of United Kingdom fund manager, Gartmore Group Limited.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Slaughter and May landed the lead mandates advising on the deal.

Slaughters acted for Henderson in the transaction, and this is the first time Henderson has used Slaughters on a deal, The Lawyer, a UK-based publication, reports.

Freshfields took the lead role for Gartmore.

Henderson Group plc is the parent company of Henderson Global Investors, which had £61.6 billion of assets under management as at 31 December 2010, Allens said in a statement.

This deal, which was completed on 4 April 2011, brings Henderson Group plc's assets under management to about £78 billion, making it one of the largest asset managers in the UK, the law firm said.

Allens partner Alex Ding said he is pleased to be helping his long-term client meet its international growth objectives.

"It was also very pleasing to be working alongside the very capable team at Henderson Group plc to further their goal of creating significant value for their clients and shareholders.

"Allens was part of an international team, working to assist Henderson Group plc in this important matter.'
