Mr McCarthy (pictured) has joined K&L Gates' Sydney office as special counsel in its restructuring and insolvency team.

He has more than 15 years' experience specialising in insolvency and restructuring, domestic and cross-border, contentious and non-contentious.

The appointment follows the loss of several partners from K&L Gates to various competitors, including Murray Deakin, Brihony Boan and Jol Rogers.

Mr McCarthy’s departure from Henry Davis York follows David Gilham’s departure earlier this year.
